Assisted
Assembly
The time has come for you to get a 3D printer of your own, but you’re not sure which one to pick, you're nervous about the idea of having to build it yourself, and concerned you might blow something up the process. No sweat! We’re here to help.
we help you:
1. Choose
the 3d printer that’s right for you and your student
2. Assemble
your 3D printer with your student - fun filled and headache free
3. Initiate
your newly built 3D printer so that it’s ready to print
The TLDR
We work side by side with you and your student to set you up for success. Your student will build and prepare their new 3D printer with the guidance of our seasoned instructor.
Your student get the awesome experience (and all the knowledge that comes with it) of building their printer… but if anything goes sideways, we’re here to step in!

This course does not teach the fundamentals of 3D printing and 3D design. If you’re interested in that, check out our Foundations of 3D Printing course! Assisted Assembly merely aims to provide support for those who already possess a familiarity with 3D printing and are looking to take the exciting step of acquiring a 3D printer of their own.
We do not require completion of Foundations of 3D Printing but we expect any student enrolling in this course to already have a basic understanding of 3D printing.
What this course is not:
your new 3D
printer
…Am I qualified?
In our experience, this is the wrong question to be asking. The relevant matter is whether your student is qualified.
Think of a 3D printer as a pet. Like a pet needs to be walked, fed, and picked up after; a 3D printer needs maintenance, problem solving, and sometimes; repair. If your student is a responsible go-getter, they’re probably well equipped to manage a 3D printer.
On the other hand, if you foresee yourself being the one to do the maintenance, your student probably isn’t ready.
We find that the success stories tend to come from students who are old enough and independent enough to problem solve and troubleshoot on their own.

Frequently asked questions
-
No.
In fact, we’d prefer you didn’t. The first section of this course will guide you on your selection of a 3D printer.
-
No. Expect to spend a few hundred dollars on your new printer.
-
It depends. I have seen students on UA successfully expense 3D printers. However, this is no guarantee you will be able to do the same.
For students on standard PEP, I have no experience to say one way or another.
Regardless, please go through the pre-authorization process prior to purchase.

If you already purchased a new 3D printer and want to enroll in the course, reach out to us here to see if it’s a model we’ll assemble.
If you have a used 3d printer that is not functioning, this is not the course for you. Feel free to reach out to us here though, we may be able to work something out!
-
If your printer ceases to function shortly after assembly (within a month or two) through no fault of your own, give us a call!
If your printer ceases to function after a period longer than that, it’s up to your student to trouble shoot. This may sound daunting, but think of it like troubleshooting a laptop or phone. Start by seeing if anyone else has run into the problem before. YouTube, AI, and even Reddit can be great resources.
